Church readerboard – tolerance and acceptance

These two photos show both sides of the readerboard as it currently reads at my church (Redmond United Methodist in Redmond, WA). I’m sharing them with you because I found them such a breath of fresh air. Compared to what church readerboards normally contain (pathetic attempts at humor and/or bad theology), ours has been very good for quite some time. This week is no exception!

“Search others for their virtues, thyself for thy vices.” – Ben Franklin

“The highest result of education is tolerance.” – Helen Keller

United Methodist churches are generally pretty liberal. I grew up Methodist, and switched to UU when I grew up because the Jesus thing didn’t really work for me, not because they were too conservative. My mom still belongs to one.
